She holds a Master’s degree in Financial Engineering and Islamic Finance from the University Chouaib Doukkali (2024–2025) and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Management from the University Hassan I (2022–2023), where she developed a strong foundation in economic analysis, financial systems, and strategic management.
Her academic and research interests focus on Islamic finance, ethical financial systems, and the comparative performance of conventional and participative banking models. Her recent work explores client preferences for conventional banking products over Islamic alternatives, with particular emphasis on Murabaha financing, combining rigorous theoretical frameworks with practical, field-based analysis.
She currently serves as a Research Associate at the Institute of Islamic Economics and Finance (IIEF), where she is responsible for all research and publication matters. In this capacity, she contributes to the development, coordination, and dissemination of academic research, advancing knowledge and thought leadership in the field of Islamic finance.
She has also gained practical industry exposure through her internship at Umnia Bank, where she strengthened her expertise in participative banking operations, product development, and risk management within an Islamic finance framework.
Beyond her professional and academic pursuits, Fatoumatta Panneh is deeply committed to education and community development. She has over three years of experience as a Qur’anic teacher, holding advanced certifications in Islamic studies (Tajweed, Tafsir and Aqeedah). She actively engages in initiatives aimed at promoting ethical awareness, knowledge sharing, and personal development, particularly among women.
Her long-term ambition is to contribute to the growth and innovation of Islamic finance, particularly in emerging markets, by bridging the gap between theory and practice and by promoting financially sound, ethically grounded solutions.
