Prof. Dr. Bukhari Sillah
Prof. Dr. Bukhari M.S. Sillah: is a Senior Macroeconomic Researcher at Economic Research and Institutional Learning, Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He was a Senior Research Economist, Economic Research and Policy Development at the same bank. Prior to that, he was an Associate Professor and Assistant Professor Department of Economics from 2009 to 2016, King Saud University, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He was a Guest Researcher at the University of Kiel in 2009, Germany.
Dr. Sillah Headed the Department of Economics and Management Sciences from 2005 to 2009, at the University of The Gambia and was an Economics lecturer at the same period. He briefly worked as Insurance Compliance Officer at the Central Bank of the Gambia in 2002. He also worked as Cadet Administrative Officer at the Personnel Management Office, Government of the Gambia from 1998 to 1999. He was trained on Islamic Banking at Bank Islam Malaysia Berhard from 1997 to 1998, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Dr. Sillah holds PhD in Quantitative Economics from University of Kiel, Germany. He has Masters in Economics and Bachelors in Business Administration from International Islamic University, Malaysia. Dr. Sillah is a certified Registered Representative of Malaysian Monetary Exchange, Kuala Lumpur Options & Financial Futures Exchange, and Malaysian Institute of Futures & Options. He also completed level II of CFA. He taught several courses in both English and Arabic languages at King Saud University, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; University of The Gambia, and United Nations Institute for Economic Development and Planning, Dakar, Senegal from 2001 to 2016 respectively. His research interests are in: analysis of conventional banking and financial institutions, economic growth, monetary economics, macro econometric analysis and Islamic economics and finance.
Dr. Sillah peer reviewed so many publications including: – Formalizing Informal Economy: Improving Decent Work and Tax Collection in OIC Member Countries. Dr. Sillah has some research works in progress includes: – Green Economy in some IsDB Member Countries: high multiplier job creation as economies go zero waste; – Poverty reduction and Islamic financial services: A circular-flow model for poverty reduction financing; – Economic integration among IsDB MCs: identifying converging and diverging units. He attended many conferences and presented seminar papers in different part of the world. He also did series of consultancies for both public and private sector services. He is a professional member to several bodies and organizations around the globe. He is fluent in English & Arabic languages, and moderate in Dutch.
