Dr. Zamakhsyari Bin Hasballah Thaib: is a Rector in Dharmawangsa University, from August 2020 to date. He is an educator with experience in teaching doctoral programs at various universities in Indonesia both public and private. He holds PhD in Shariah in 2012 from the International Islamic University of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia. He also completed his Master of Arts (M.A.) in Qur’anic Studies in 2009 from the same University. He earned his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Islamic Studies in 2007 from the United Arab Emirates University, Al-Ain, Abu Dhabi – UAE. He completed High School Diploma in 2003 from Secondary Religious Institutes in Doha – Qatar.

Dr. Zamakhsyari is also a researcher who has published many scientific works in the form of articles, seminar papers, and books with more than 60 titles. He is also an Islamic activist who played a major role in mobilizing various Islamic activities in the society, especially in the city of Medan, Indonesia. He participated in many Ijtihad Jama’i (Islamic scholars’ group reasoning) to give fatwas on various contemporary issues faced by the Ummah.

Dr. Zamakhsyari was the Dean of Islamic Studies Faculty in Dharmawangsa University, from June 2016 to August 2020. He was also a Head of Research Center in the same University, from June 2014 to June 2016. He headed Al-Munawwarah Islamic Educational Foundation in Medan City, from July 2010 to date.

Dr. is a member of Misbahul Ulum Islamic Educational Foundation, Lhokseumawe – North Aceh, from August 2018 to date. He lectures in various public and private universities in Medan City – Indonesia from 2010 to date. He is fluent in both Arabic and English languages. He also has excellent computer skills, leadership skills and the ability to do Ijtihad and give Fatwas in Islamic Jurisprudence.
